"Kowalski’s work acknowledges its post-modern context, the imagery of the work draws on the abandoned and discarded, an impression of an actual door, bits of wood, polystyrene and builders dustsheets. The links with the post modern context are clear, the use of selected media is married to representation and concept and the attention to process nods to earlier, twentieth century modernist concerns."
